Finale of Kota Kinabalu....

I will stop my birthday post for now and continue with my post on Kota Kinabalu. :)
This was super overdue already so I might as well do this first. LOL....

A visit to East M'sia, you must never miss its wide selection of good FOOD around. This trip was rather fulfilling where we managed to try different varieties - Seafood, Western and Chinese! YIPPEE! Their food simply RAWKS!

Missing the food already.. :P I'll be climbling Mount Kinabalu in April next year.... Darn looking forward, for the food I mean... can't possibly imagine myself climbing up the hill... :(

We dined at the hotel one of the days as it was pretty late already and decided not to travel out... Some of the drinks we had...
Sutera Harbour's carbonara was simply fantastic... It was drenched in thick creamy white sauce and came with heaps of mushrooms and bacon...
We had their caesar salad as starters... nicely done. topped with grilled chicken and egg!
Next day breakfast buffet at the hotel... American style breakfast... :)
After all the food, we headed down and started tons of photo-shooting around. It was indeed a very beautiful place...
Pathway from the hotel to the harbour, swimming pool and mini beach...
The food lovers a.k.a Camwhores... LOL!
We even took photos of our foot nicely decorated with leaves and sands... haha...
The mini beach... don't just love the view? I can practically sit there doing nothing all day except enjoying the sea breeze and view...
It was darn windy too...
More random shots we took around...
Next we travelled down to KK town and we decided to try out Little Italy Pasta and Pizza corner... The orange food menu!
The ambience of the place... simply and comfy!
Shades... The bigger one is mine! LOL! :P
Lemon juice... The prices there were pretty reasonable... definitely worth visiting if u're there... Just ask your taxi to bring you to Little Italy...
Salad again... I'm really a veggie girl... haha... Love salads! Yum!
Since we had carbonara the day before, hence we decided to have something lighter... Spaghetti Marinara.. tomato based with assorted seafood. Simply heaven... There were oysters, prawns, squids and clams!
Feeling very happy and contented after all the yummy food.. Thumbs up! :)
Then dinner time it was seafood @ Port View Seafood Restaurant, KK!
Since it was only 2 person, we decided to have one fish and tow foo... And the bill came out to RM 100++... damn expensive... the fish itself was about RM 60 ++....
The fish that costs us a bomb! It was really fresh and I think we were definitely over-charged for that... hmm...
Us again @ the roof top of hotel.. haha...Another mall to visit @ KK would be Marina Square... I kinda like the concept of the place... Modern and trendy! Quite a number of restaurant and cafes around and interesting shops selling miscellaneous things too... Our last meal of breakfast @ Kopitiam, Marina Square before we headed off to the airport...
Curry laksa... I opted for their siam mee hoon and curry chicken... nothing special... And it feels as though they cooked it last night and just re-heating it...
Random shots @ the airport.... Can you see the future? :P

Work & FOOD at Kuching

I shall finish with my food spree at Kuching first during my visit there for work related purposes. As compared to Kota Kinabalu, I think Kuching town is rather more quiet with nothing much to shop around and etc. LOL…

In terms of food, Kuching has a few delicacies that you must not miss. Let’s see what we had at that time…

Arriving at the Kuching airport...
I had lunch @ the James Brooke cafe near the waterfront...
My iced capuccino! Coffeeee! :P
The feel and ambience.. nice to relax on a hot afternoon...
Mushroom soup! Yum! with garlic bread...
I decided to go healthy... Ordered their salad tuna...
While eating.. you have a view outside the beautiful garden
Waterfront @ Kuching...
Attractive "sampans" you see outside in the river...Then dinner some colleagues & I headed over to Bukit Mata Seafood centre for some glorious seafood. I was indeed overdose after my trip to East M'sia.

Fried chicken feet... I nvr try this...Belacan local vegetables... pretty special...
Black pepper sauce oyster... wooo lalala...
Soft shell crab... i enjoyed this... so nice to dip it with sweet thai sauce!
The amount of FOOD we had...
There was even a Chinatown @ Kuching. We headed there for breakfast b4 flying off to Kota Kinabalu...
My breakfast - assorted fishballs with tanghoon! so so only... Then I decided not to eat that and ordered their famous "kolon mee" a.k.a dry noodles!Teh Si Ais!The "kolon mee" was rather tasty! Comes with toppings like "char siew", minced pork, liver and fish cakes! This version comes with prawns!

Birthday Celebration @ The Ship

As usual, we have a round of birthday celebrations for the group. In early October, it was an old friend's birthday and we all gathered at The Ship, Uptown for some good food.

Let the food do the talking this time around... :)

The chocolate birthday cake for the bday boy... happy 23rd birthday!
Happily smiling for the cameraIt was a round of bread and butter for all... simple and nice!
The set came with either salad too!
This looks yummy right? Assorted seafood drenched in white sauce.. slurrrppp :P
Assorted seafood deep fried and ever so crunchy... it comes with batter fish fillet, grilled tiger prawns and fries...They are also famous for its sizzling chicken + steak combo... it's served in a hot plate where you get to cook your own food...
This is the steak + prawn sizzling combo thta uncle jit ordered... i didn't try but it sure looks nice!Grilled steak in hotplate drenched in mushroom sauce...The typical grilled steak that came with assorted side dishes like brocolli, tomato, sweet corn and potato! We pampered ourselves with a round of cakes from the bday celebration...The gals and bday boy!All guys...That's about it... I wouldn't say the food at The Ship were superbly delicious but it was edible. LOL! When it comes to western food, I still prefer Milwaukee Steakhouse at Kepong. Cheap and darn yummy.
Yummy FOOD @ Gohtong Jaya

During the Raya Holidays, a group of us friends decided to make a trip up to Genting Highlands just to rest and relax. As a matter of fact, some of them were keen to visit the casino. LOL! I don't particularly enjoy gambling but was more eager to enjoy the cooling weather up there. :)

Half way up we stopped by @ Gontong Jaya for brunch. A friend of mine recommended Chuan Kie Restaurant for some yummy chinese dishes. Let's take a look what we had...

Purplecane Restaurant @ Jalan Imbi

I’ll be off to Cameron Highlands today during the long stretch of holidays. Time to rest and relax after a tiring week. I plan to stock in lots of vegetables and get some plants. I heard it’s pretty cheap. Till then, do stay tune for the updates.

Before I leave, I shall blog an entry about my food trip @ Purple Cane restaurant near Jalan Imbi. My bestie introduced this place and we decided to feast ourselves on a Friday afternoon for lunch. They serve a huge variety of Chinese cuisines, be it dishes or individual meals.

Let’s see what we had that afternoon…

The ambience and deco... very relaxing and nice...
Beautiful tanglungs around...
The seating arrangements... chinese style... hehe...so nice right??Yao Char Kwai wrapped with fish meat!!! Something special.. and pretty good too.. worth a try!
Boxer chicken drenched in sweet honey sauce... feels like i'm eating char siew.. :P We ordered and shared two noodles - one is the fried tang hoon and the other one is fried black pepper udon. RM 7.90 per plate. The serving is pretty small. I love the blakc pepper udon the most... very nice!
Special homemade braised tow foo with minched pork. This is another must order. The texture was so soft and nice.
Fried lotus root with almond and chinese black fungus...
Another vege - Fried Kangkung Belacan! Totally awesome... the total bill was about RM 20 per pax including tax and tea... pretty reasonable... Do give it a try! :)

New Found Passion - Cooking :P

Many have the perception that Food Lovers are Good Cooks too. Is it true? :P
Remember the movie Ratatouille from Disney? It says that Everyone Can Cook!

Undeniably I’m a food lover but I don’t usually cook at home, except for casual occasions when I’m bored – in which I will venture into the kitchen and peep around while my mum was doing the cooking. I will help cut, stir fry a bit and that’s about it. Never did I experience doing it from end to end.

And recently I’ve been doing quite a fair bit of cooking. I wouldn’t say it was perfect, but it was indeed edible. LOL. Definitely room for improvements. But cooking is definitely a fun experience! You get to experiment a little mixing the sauces and coming out with fresh ideas to cook a dish.

Let’s see what was happening in the kitchen recently…. Next up would be more FOOD post from my trips I promise : )

The cooking action takes place here at the kitchen. As you can see it was pretty empty with nothing except the stove and oven. haha...

Then slowly it revamped into a real kitchen with basic utilities to cook! :P
Don't you just love decorating? I do think I inherited this creativity from my mum... 1st attempt - Bak Kut Teh
Cooking a soup dish can never be easier and in fact it can never go wrong! All you need are the ingredients to cook a simple Bak Kut Teh. You need lettuce, pork ribs, BKT soup packets, mushrooms, soy sauce and pepper!Stir fry vegetables are the easiest too!!! Tada! It was darn yummy!! Remember to add in tons of Foo Chook too! A huge pot of delicious BKT soup!2nd attempt was to cook something more challenging. The special someone was the chef that day! haha! Well done! :P Stir fry fish soy sauce garnished with ginger! My fav veges - Broccoli with mushrooms and prawns! A yummy dinner was ready! The next attempt was soup again! All you need to do is to dump the soup packets and pork/ chicken and start boiling for 45minutes! Remember to simmer it with salt and pepper for taste before serving!Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce! Tips no 1 - Remember not to add in salt anymore. The teriyaki sauce alone will be salty enough. It is best to marinate the fish for half a day before cooking it!Nice setting eh? I went shopping the other day and bought the newly placemats!
And recently not too long ago, we had a cooking spree and invited a few close friends over. It was darn fun and we prepared and cooked a few interesting dishes.

We had:
1. Spaghetti with minced pork
2. Fried marinated pork chop
3. Mashed potatoes with meatballs
4. Fried fish fillets

The pork chop was sooo nicely done! I love the marination and I am planning to steal the recipe from Fion! :PThe ingredients all prepared!Wow!!! This look darn yummy right? In fact it tasted good! Cooked by the special someone and I decorated it.. haha....
Fried fish fillet.. this was fairly easy...all you need is to get the frozen fillets from the supermarket and deep fried them..The final dish was the tasty spaghetti prepared by my bestie Eda. It was a tomato based option and gosh she really can cook! :P I heard her white sauce is pretty good too... The pork chop by Fion! Everyone was happily enjoying their food!
I was darn full after that.. phew... Stay tune for more photos :P

Fuiiyoh... damn syok :PThere are lots of ships at the harbour too... For people who goes out diving, tour trips and etc.At the hotel lobby waiting...Craziest photo ever taken outside the hotel balcony... where we actually climbed out of the windows "illegally" and cam-whore outside before we were caught red-handed! Gosh! Hotel management were all up in the room and they eventually sealed the window after that. :) The evening view......Edited photo... Nicely done! Thank you! :)
